In commemoration of the American Revolution's Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary), this blog is dedicated to the associated events that transpired in Western Pennsylvania, as well as the surrounding region, and the people who played key roles in those events.
The region encompassed those lands west of the Allegheny mountains claimed by Pennsylvania and Virginia including Fort Pitt (Pittsburgh) and extended along the Ohio River valley into the Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois countries.
I'm currently in the process of writing a book to tell this fascinating, little known aspect of our nation's founding. I plan to share many of those narratives here as the anniversary unfolds over the next several years and also highlight regional events being conducted as part of the 250th celebration.
